Default DCCD Without Power

Subaru Humans,
I have a DCCD box in the Forry, and its currently running without power to the diff. I've heard differing reports about whether running it without power will kill it. Can anyone tell me for sure either way?
Many Thanks In Advance,
Jeff

Running with out power to DCCD will not do any harm.

Rather than start a new thread... What is the effect of pulling the handbrake on an unpowered dccd unit?

I always clutch in, but curious to know if the mechanics are different or it just stuffs it up?

No power will mean its in it's default full rear position. Powering it up will split the drive further forward.

Therefore, skids.. And upload the pix please

It will lock the rear wheels.

Even after you install a controller and run power to DCCD... All DCCD controllers are earthed into the hand brake switch so that when you pull the hand brake they immediately cut power to DCCD to allow the rear wheels to lock up independently of the front wheels.

you wont get full power the rear diff per say, just the max rear bias off the box like 65:35 or whatever, the foz will def feel lot more tail happy in open mode almost feels like theres no power to the fronts, add a plated rear diff too = winning when the dccd centres die they revert back to this mode, ie power them up and it will still be rear biased, you will have a grin from ear to ear when you do power it up tho, transformed the cornering of mine by lightyears

TJ - I finally found a GC shell so the Forry is going to be unloaded, last thing I want to do is break it doing helis.
I will be leaving the GC in 35:65 mode, permanently...
