Default Bosch 040 Fuel Install into 04 Wrx

Hey guys i have just installed a new fuel pump, and I am having some trouble.

Before the new pump went in i had the car intermittently cutting out and then not being able to start it again until i turned the key repeatedly. I had a spare 040 intank pump which I have installed as I thought it might be the pump. Anyway new pump went in and it started up and sounded good. When I turned the car off, and tried to start it again I could not get it to start. The check engine light that normally comes on before starting doesnt come on any more before crank. Does this sound like a fuel pump relay problem or possibly a fuse? I am finding it very difficult to track down the fuel pump relay. I went to Suburu Osborne Park to get a replacement relay and the one they showed me was square and black. Whereas the one I pulled out from the green connector in the left of the passenger side footwell is round. Can anyone help, I did test the relay with a 9volt battery and it clicks which i thought was a healthy sign :P Any thoughts would really be appreciated

My car did the same.. replaced the fuel pump and fuses as a precaution, but it was the Brant system playing up.
