Default UTEC Tuning

Hi,

I have an MY05 with exhaust and CAI. I have been considering an ECU to get more out of my car. Don't want to pay big $$$ (autronic/motec et al) so am considering the other end of the scale eg. EcuTek and UTEC.

re. the UTEC, I have been quoted a longer tuning time due to the difficulty involved (e.g. "check log, make changes, dyno and check.. then redo process" - to quote Intra) and thus more $$.

I have read pretty much every thread on rexnet and here (I think) re. the UTEC ECU. I am interested to hear of the experiences from anyone who has had a UTEC fitted with similiar mods on a MY05.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

IF it was between Utec and ECUtek.

I would side with ECUtek.

I am assuming you say EcuTek because you will get a cheaper and 'better' tune? UTEC has the advantage of being able to resell, of course.

Anyway, don't really want to get into a 'best ECU' discussion, but can I ask your reasons for prefering EcuTek?

waxdass, I did read that you had switched to EcuTek.

My other (initial) option was a Link, but they don't make one for a MY05.

Agree with Tode on this, is a bit of a pain, but you learn to drive around it a bit.
Would have thought 500 bucks for a UTEC tune would pull it up ok, there are plenty of cars over hear that have been done so heaps of maps to choose which will be close to get started from.

Yes, I did notice that (forgot about it).

When you say you feel it, do you mean there is a flat spot or a hesitation? Obviously its bad enough for you to want to change ECUs.

cheers
