Default Gen 2 N/A Lib - overheating

My bunky Lib that my parents drive around has begun overheating when driving.

They took it to a local mechanic despite my objections.

Radiator flush

New thermostat

No change.

Now Im the first to scream head gasket, but I would like to hope not.

Top hose gets warm, bottom hose remains cold, no water in oil or visa versa etc.

Ideas before I throw even more of my money at a Subaru I dont even drive?

When mine had issues TJ it was actually a rooted radiator.

heater core in the dash still working? does it sound like a water feature?

If the heater core is blocked or has air trapped in it. It will stop the thermostat opening up properly.

If the top hose is warm and the bottom hose is cold then it's obviously not circulating properly which would be your pump or your radiator?

Rad came back fine. Time for a water pump. Core doesn't seem blocked.

Bypassed the core to be sure, not that.

So its either water pump or a hg.

Pull one of the timing belt covers off and see if the back of the belt is shiny.

And you can get the chemical test to see if there is exhaust gases in the coolant. Hows the over flow tank?
