Default fitting airbags to a my97

how much work would it be to convert a my97 to have working airbags?

obviously i would need a complete dash & all parts - which i could source thru members on here etc.

next thing is, i would be struggling for time to do this myself, so any ideas what a subi specialist would charge for the work/guestimate for hours needed.

thanks

dont know, car may have a full standalone ecu, so dont want to mess with that.
sounds like it might be too much of a hassel.

Hey, I can imaging this is going to be a major exercise,
Firstly airbags are something I wouldn't advise using secondhand, also some of the components your going to require are

airbag modules
Dash harness
Impact sensors
Pretension seat belts
Sensors for the seats
And a control module so it all works when it's suppose to.

In my experience this could be seriously expensive.

Hth

MY97 will have the old style dash and airbags were not an option. MY98 didn't have them standard but they were an option. 99 onwards they were compulsory I believe. I can check when I get home if you like but fairly certain all the airbag loom is seperate from everything else and just taps into a few wires. Been a while since I had a look.
That said, if you needed to buy all the bits it may not be worth it.
