I was going to see this earlier when i saw this thread... but being a mechanical retard, i didn't want to embarrass myself if i was wrong...

Sorry mate, but AFAIK when you fcuk the timing belt, it has much wider ramifications.

It really depends what you were doing when the belt snapped, if it was just idling, you might be lucky, but most likely you will have bent valves.
Easiest way to tell is to fit a new belt and see if it starts.
If not, its both heads off, full recondition. Pricey.

Beat me to it johnvk7.....I have never seen anyone "get away with it" after snapping a timing belt on a WRX.

Start sweating redsubi, this will not be cheap.

Subaru timing belts are very strong and resilient. They usually fail due to incorrect fitment, eg, the guides rubbing through the belt.
Or something else failing, like a siezed water pump or idler pulley.
I've seen belts last well beyond the interval.
The new service schedule says 125000 or 5 years, the belt is identical.
A very worn belt is more likely to lose teeth, then to actually snap.

To be honest, you have at least a year leeway before your really taking a risk.
