I found this little invention very cool. I don't know if it's commonly known to people but I thought I'd share anyway! Seeing as its a great device that you'd be able to use quite a bit, especially fabricating custom pressurized pipe work etc.

Hope this may be a help to some people who have problems with pipes blowing off their intercooler/ radiator plumbing!

Yeah it's copied from something that's widely used but just really cost effective!

Ah yeah, manually pressing stainless steel? You'd have the forearms of a teenage boy who just found out about his dick.

Unless you really needed that pressed bellows style shape, just weld a ring on the pipe, or run a bead of weld around the pipe. Then your pipe clamp won't be going anywhere. (And given you need a welder to make this device, easier too)

Thats an awesome tool. I would much preffer to do that than weld a ring around the stainless. Very nice!

I have the same but welding stainless really makes it warp and move quite badly. Plus you would get slag on the insides of the pipes that would need grinding out. Another thing is you would really need to use heaps of filler rod to make it that high.

Yeah if you need it that high, it's not a solution.

I was refering to pipe with hose clamps (i.e. intercooler piping as mentioned by the OP).

Put a ring around the pipe where you want the clamp (can just use an offcut of the piping you are using and put a slice in the bottom to open it up and put over the pipe) couple of tack welds, voilla something for the clamp to hook onto. You don't need to run a weld the whole way around. Distortion and slag are operator error sorry, so that can be fixed if needed.

Just an option if you have to do a lot of these and don't require a pressed out end. I would imagine that after doing one, you wouldn't be too keen on doing more.

Cool idea. Great for ally, maybe not so much for staino :P

Can you say shit flow much ?

The rolling pillow of air caused by the indent in the pipe effectively makes your pipe at least 1/4" smaller in cross section diameter/flow ....not to mention squashing the opening size.

It is however a quick and neat way of keeping the hose on for those applications where flow is unimportant (<300Kw & 3" cooler pipes...might even help a retarded pipe size choice )

Welded bead is where its at, nothing but a discourloration should be seen on the insdie of the pipe with the correct welding technique. Warp ? stainless tube !?
