This is the set up I've been running for a while now and it works for me. Although I'm thinking of eventually going to a high quality pod filter with a custom made cold air box but we'll see.

I love the "sucks up water" argument. When was the last time you heard of a WRX/STi shitting itself by water ingestion? Shane, unless you don't like the induction sound, run the stock air box. Otherwise, stick with your CAI - I would highly doubt it is causing a drop in torque.

Drop in torque due to CAI is obvious in US Dave's various tunes on Liberty.

CAI = MAF scaling issues for a tuner. Stock box works a treat and I recommend you ditch the CAI and get it retuned

Ah that is very very helpful.

Stock airbox + STi filter it is. Retune away!!! I wont run less boost. Just going to get Lane to sort out the minor spike and retune with the airbox + filter.

The guys are away for competition but I have been advised to ring back next week when they get back to get it booked in.

I can live without induction noise (no really ). Given it feels awesome with less torque now I would love even more earlier in the rev range.

Cheers Lads, will update my driveway thread,

-Shane.

What if you have a FMIC? No stock box so scaling issues every time?

Actually, it used to happen too often.

I think some people need to do some temperature testing of a pod filter in the engine bay compared to the 'cold air intake'. Might be suprised at the results when a car is moving.

Remove the resonator from the front right guard if you want CAI sound, i dont think you need the intake unless you are going for 300kw+ atw figures. 200kw atw with the stock box works great.

if youve got money to burn then by all means please yourself but the 400$ for a decent CAI can buy lots more things for your car

As far as CAI goes, lesson learned. I will ask Lane to retune the car using the OEM airbox + STI air filter and go from there. Always happy for more torque over power

**edit** spike still there gahaha, as above.

Cheers lads,
Shane.
