Boost question
This may be some silly question, but since this the first time i have car like wrx, so i am ask it anyway.Mao set my HKS-S EBC to 0.9 bar, so it's around 13psi. but i just notice today when i pushed the car, first gear, it topped at around 13-15psi, and on second gear i read it's reach 17-18psi. i wasn't sure if it's the peak or not, i was just too scared to see that number and backed down promptly. I haven check 3th, 4th and 5th gear.should i be worried? is it normal?

Posting up a question like that will get you a heap of uneducated answers, some educated answers and a lot of rubbish.
If your not sure, drive it like a nanny then give mao a call first thing Monday morning. If you know a little about the car/EBC unit then have a play but again call Mao on Monday morning. Running HKS EBC I'm guessing it doesn't have a tune? Might just be the crazy cold weather in Perth at the moment giving you a boost spike. I get it now and then. Running stock boost controller I get a few spikes upto 17psi on extra cold mornings.

I did send a PM to Mao, but he hasn't answer it yet, may be because it's weekend or he's busy. So while wating for his respond, i'm asking around.
I know a little bit about car, but i know nothing a bout the HKS-S ebc, hence my question about it in my other thread. Mao dyno tuned my car when he installed the EBC. So the high spike during cold weather is normal? Because i only notice this recently.

Dyno tuned would mean its running a tune so it's a bit odd.
MAF/IAT sensor should compensate for the colder air and do required adjustments on the fly. It's no doubt the colder weather causing this small spike in boost pressure but again I'm surprised that your EBC is doing this being a HKS unit. Maybe check all your boost vacuum lines and or MAF/IAT sensor. Or just give Mao a call in the morning.

If it a 5 or a 6 ver EBC try lowwering your Boost offset A and B mode, This is the same problem I had, Mine Boosted to 21psi first drive.
If you need help with it PM me.

EVC is not setup correctly or there is another fault somewhere. EVC will spike i.e. set to 13psi and hitting 15psi, but hitting 17-18psi is an issue.
Go direct to a workshop and get it diagnosed, stay off boost getting it there.

Try to boost it again today (2nd gear). It's peak on 14-15psi.
Got me confused. I think i may have some thing to do with cold weather.

Sorry Adi, been flat out. You can always reach me on 04213 87888.
Are you on setting A or B atm? I have put 2 settings in, so in case of cold weather, just right click the dial and it will change from A-B and vice-versa, but do not go to off setting. The gains in both setting have been set to compensate for colder or hotter weather. Best bet, drive by and we can go for a 2-min drive. Cheers, Mao |
