Alarm Problem
Hey guys,
I Went up north for the weekend with the old man and came back to find my battery in the rex was flat... so i charged it all night and went to start it in the morning but now it seems to have forgotten my user code. I had a read through the Operating Manuel for the alarm system and it says: "Don't disconnect the vehicles battery for long periods of time or allow the battery to go flat as this may cause the keypad system to temporarily lose memory of the user code." Has anyone had this problem before? how long will it take to remember the code again? Any help will be great Thanks Azza

Search function is your friend, lots of Brant related threads with same problem, in saying that there is a way to reset the keypad and your alarm will re-learn the old code.
Quick search found this: BRANT RESET • You need two people to do this • Your car battery must be fully charged and in good shape (1) Disconnect car battery negative terminal for 5 to 6 minutes (2) Hold down 0 and # at the same time on the keypad and reconnect the battery whilst still holding down (3) Release 0 and # (4) Enter 0 four times on keypad (5) The keypad is now reset to accept your PIN Last edited by Lasoya; 07-10-2012 at 09:42 PM. |

Further to what Lasoya suggested, you can avoid the 5 minute wait by touching the battery terminals together. This will zero the capacitance in the system.
When I had this problem I think you also didn't have to enter the 4x zeros either. RAC have this fix listed in their on board computer so they should be able to help get you going if you don't have a second person. |

Thanks for the replys guys, just called subaru and they reccon its going to cost me $400 for the job. They didnt give me the master key because apparently i need to give them paperwork and stuff. I tried what lasoya said and it didnt work. Is there any fix i can do by myself with the masterkey? or can any other company do it for a better price? I asked the guy if this would happen again if my battery went flat after i got all the work done and he said yes, you will have to get it done all over again....another $400. What Bullshit..

Spend $150 more and get it ripped out and put an AutoWatch system in it.

Mao @ EvolutionR will take out the keypad and put in an autowatch keypad for $250 or you can upgrade it all for about $550, check out Evolution R section on this forum
