Default Ej20K Bearings Gone - Rebuild Plans - Thoughts?

HI all,

It seems after installing my upgraded avo intake, i bent the fuel rail and broke cyclinder one injector.

Replaced the injector and fuel rail - car was perfect, took it around the block, literally 2 minute drive.

Two small squirts running 1BAR, next thing I know there is a loud knocking noise.

So yeah, most probably the rod bearings are gone.

Here is my build list, wanted to get thoughts on my list; is there anything i have missed, or is one product no right for my motor etc.

Cosworth Pistons Piston Set WRX STI 92.00mm 8.0:1 EJ20
Eagle H-Beam Rods (WITH ARP ROD BOLTS)
ARP Headstuds
Cosworth Subaru EJ20/EJ25 High Performance Main Bearing Set
Cosworth Subaru EJ20/EJ25 High Performance Rod Bearing set
COSWORTH HEADGASKETS
Cosworth Blueprinted High Pressure Oil Pump WRX STi EJ20 EJ205
OEM Subaru Gasket Rebuild Kit (10105AA380) - think this is the right kit...?
Heads machines Machining and cleaning
Various fluids and filters

Regards,

David

For the price of ej207 short blocks now days, you would be stupid not to get one. They can take a fairl bit of punishment and boost. Look threw the pages on this forums and you'll see that there are a few using them

EJ207 or EJ257?

My total build cost is roughly 3.3K - the machining cost is factored in already and i will not be charged for the actual rebuilding of the engine.

Also, will I need a tune for the EJ207? Also, what additonal parts are required?

207, will cost you roughly 2.5-3k with a gasket kit, all you will need to do is get the heads faced and bolt them on, I wouldn't think you would need to get a tune seeing as your s using the same Inlet manifold and injectors not to mention its still a 2l

OK awesome Marti, So I assume you mean heads faced, as in machined?

I've heard people mention Darren @ Subaru does good deals on the EJ207? Anyone know his details?

btw, which gasket rebuild kit do i need? EJ20K or EJ207?

Yeah Darren at subaru parts which is pretty much amcap in welshpool, yeah just get ye head face machined to make sure they are dead flat. Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure the gasket kit comes with everything, but phone Subaru parts at amcap and ask. Will cheaper if you work in the industry due to trade
