Default Will an EJ257 OIL pick up and sump to fit EJ20? Yes/NO

Hi all,

About to do a rebuild, my bearing went on the EJ20K.

Fitting a EJ207 short block to my V3 heads.

Quick question, its advisable to repalce the oil pick up, will an OEM EJ257 oil pick up and sump kit be a straight bolt on for the EJ207?

upgrade to a 'killer bee' oil pickup, those 2.5 pickups are rubbish, lots of reports on ozfoz (forester club) of them failing resulting in loss of oil pressure & spun bearings

hmm interested, do you have a link to what you read?

I was reading a comment by the killer bee guy and he said the 2.5 was superior over the EJ20 setup.

All I can suggest is that for the slight upgrade cost for Killer B oil pickup, versus failure cost and taking consideration that the motor is out already I'd be upgrading.

Oil Pickup Story
Soksta and Bob like this.

oh i see, from a sump perspective ej25 is fine, but the pickup is the critical part.

So ill get the ej25 setup and add the oil pick up from killer bee.

Yep - unless your planning some major engine build. Then the KBee sump with extra capacity could be worthwhile (albeit that every oil change involves 6 l v 5 l).
