I have HSD HR(bought it off Joe) now in the car for over 3.5 years, never had any problems
Set on the hardest setting because bitches love a hard ride... More so my hellafail offset rims dont hit the guards on hard bumps

The main advantage of coilovers is that they retain suspension travel when the car is lowered....and have height adjustability (though for most applications you tend to stick with one sensible height).
Strut inserts such as Koni have bump and rebound adjustability (usually one for both) and combined with a quality lower spring will work very well (better than cheap coilovers). As said previously, cheap coilovers are generally a waste of money....they often have poor valving, low range of adjustability, poor travel and are not manufactured from robust, quality materials...and more often than not have a bone jarring or bouncy ride. Remember that mid range products made by DMS, KW, Tein and the like have been tested and proven in competition applications....and generally have good ride qualities on the street...then you go more expensive DMS, MCA, Reiger, Ohlins etc...

Both are the same.
Both are springs over a strut. "Coilovers" allow you to adjust height, select heavier springs, adjust damping, rebound yada yada. Most come with camber plates to allow for more aggressive alignments. Due to their more compact size, they can also allow you to run wider rubber. Then there are things like weight savings etc etc. As mentioned the quality of the coilover will play a major role in the 'greatness' of the coilover. There is a reason the top guys run super expensive stuff. Tbh, on a street car you don't need coilovers. The only time they are useful on a mainly street driven car is if you want to lower it a lot or need the extra space for tyre width. Saying that, I run HSD's on my WRX and Tein Monoflex with EDFC on my Evo. Both are very compliant for street duties. You will get extra noise from the top hats of the coils most likely not having rubber bushes (you can get some hats with rubber though). You will also be riding with much heavier springs so it will be bumpier. End of the day you are purchasing a strut and a spring. Whether it is called a coilover or something else, the fundamentals are the same and it depends on what application you want and what adjustments you want.

Can recommend the KW V3. Great adjustability, comfy on the road and can be tweeked up nicely for the track

yes but unfortunatly i have a budget and cant justify a billion dollars on coilovers when i can get an adequate set for a better price.
