She better not drive my bugeye guaranteed to stall but my clutch in not user friendly though. OEM 6 speed clutch will be good and recommended for daily driving.

Anyone used the exedy oem clutch for sti?
Just drove an sti im interested in. It had a HD clutch of an undetermined brand. Its the first time i had driven something with a clutch like it. Problem is the missus will not be able to drive it. The car sits at 260whp so i dont think the clutch is necassary. If i buy it i will putting an oem clutch in. Im curious how the eom clutch compares to the same year wrx?

Id go drive another one but im not interested in any of the others forsale so id just be tyre kicking.

Also cry me a river if this upsets you.
Stock STI clutch is easy enough to use, my wife manages easily with mine.
I reckon unless you plan on loads of limiter lunches OEM is fine for that power.

Tony, my Mrs happily drives my organic HD clutch from S-technic no worries.
Maybe the dude that put it in just went for complete overkill???

Tony 19-08-2013 10:34 AM

Yeh thinking it overkill. Its either clutch in or no clutch. So fairly hard to get used to for her.

Saint_23 19-08-2013 06:24 PM

Why is she driving in the kitchen?

matto20v 19-08-2013 06:49 PM

Surely there can be something other than an STI for her to drive 5 minutes to work?

A Corolla or Echo perhaps? Maybe a Hyundai?

I was told a long, looooong time ago that short drives are bad for performance engines? Something to the line of: it doesnt allow the engine to blow out the carbon build up?

Tony 19-08-2013 09:12 PM

Meh Ill just make her go the long way. Basically she has had a 1.5L lancer for most of her driving life and wants something with some go. I want an sti. Simple really :)

The missus can drive my sti with an oem clutch no problems. I only gave her the one trial to prove in an emergency she was able to drive me home from the pub.

The clutch in that particular car was nasty. Even button clutches don't usually shudder like that thing did. WRX or STi there's a clutch that will suit any driver who can operate a manual transmission. There's no need for a car up to 300 WHP to be harsh, even well over that it can be done, you just need to not buy the shit end of the market.
