Sway Bar Install.
Gentlemen,
Thanks to Daniel, i have both front and rear Cusco 22 mm sways... :D Friday night i set about installing the rear sway and the Whiteline Diff Lock kit. All went well and I must say the cheapy Ryobi 1/2 inch impact drill is amazing. Anyway, attached is a pic of the end link which I suspect is not correct. It sits at this angle and stretches the rubber boots on the mount ends. It's obvious I will have to replace it and I'm thinking Whiteline KLC139 endlinks. Will these be suitable and is having the 2 bearing ends pointing "left" and "right ok as opposed to the OEM link? The Whiteline docs say this is ok but I would just like some info from someone who has done this. That just looks very wrong and you would be losing some of the bar stiffness with the links at those angles.
|
The link is around the wrong way. The threaded part at the bottom shiukd have the nut towards the wheel
|
Marti,
The link is the standard STi link. It doesn't rotate like the Whiteline endlink I noted. Turning it around would also alter the top nut to face the wheel. I know it is wrong and looking for advise... :) |
Bob,
I have driven it very carefully expecting a link failure at the slightest hint of cornering. So far no noises but I will be changing endlinks and as above am chasing advise. |

Video is for 2008 Sti. Something very wrong there. Wrong sway bar? |
^^^ agree, just looked at mine, its in the same orientation, and the link is vertical.
So the bar doesn't look wide enough. |
I'd suggest that the above settles it. It simply looks like the wrong width sway bar.
With an angle like that the sway link will be rooted in no time. |
Hope you weren't high on the missus 'Pot' cookies when you did that install Joe :p

Photo of mine, Whiteline sway bar, not sure on the links.
