Sounds like 2nd is busted, drain the gearbox oil and see if there is any metal bits stuck to the drain plug (magnetic)

fark yeah thats wot i was thinkin, if second is gone is it just a matter of fixing second?? or is it better to get a full gearbox overhaul?? i guess it depend wether all the metal chunks have spread over the box n ruined all the bearings?? i dont have the money for a new gbox let alone a new gear prolly

Better off getting a replacement low k box before attempting to repair/replace 2nd. Have it checked first to see whats actually happened.

yeah i mite just drain abit of oil to give me an indication as to wether anything is floating around in there.

Either way though will have to drop it into RMS on monday. Wont do it myself. So even if its just second gear thats stuffed n all the other gears bearings, countershaft, mainshaft etc is all fine id be better of getting a new box??

damn im gonna have to get another loan to pay for a new box, on top of the one ive go on the rex itself.

1st or 2nd requires a complete replacement of the mainshaft in the gearbox, as mentioned, get a spare gearbox on standby before you look at 'fixing' it.
