Default Remove Ecutek, cost??

Guys I want to get ECUTEK removed from my 2001 WRX,I had originally planned on just selling my current ECU and replacing it with a completely stock one but I spoke to the guy at JWS Wreckers in Wangara and he said you cant just pop in another ECU?.

Something to do with the immobiliser system on the ADM Subaru's,keys programed to your existing ecu?. How much am I likely to get charged to get the ECUTEK removed or is there in fact a way that I can buy a stock ECU and get it functioning right in my car?

What has caused you to want to revert back to a stock ECU?
Is it running rough? Got a CEL?

It Keeps randomly playing up!, recently ran magic for 2 weeks, then last week starts spluttering about and bogging down again.I'll drive along then sometimes just loses pretty much all acceleration then power comes back on. Reset the Ecu and it did nothing to help

ECUTEK locks out everyone except Licenced ECUTEK Tuners who charge a lot of money,I cant even get my car properly diagnosed by someone at a reasonable distance from my house.I just want this ECUTEK shit gone!,its nothing but an annoyance and big money maker for licenced ECUTEK tuners

Though I am in the Minority with my opinion on ECUTEK

Plugs were changed not long ago and AFM cleaned with the correct AFM Cleaner ( twice in the last 2 weeks) didn't help any?....

Any manifold leaks, hoses not on correctly etc so it can suck in unmetered air? causing it to run lean splutter and die.

Any CEL codes? These can still be read by OBDii scanners and are not specific to Ecutek.

This sounds all very familiar. Are you sure we havent been through this before?

Replacing ECU may not fix your problems. AUS ECU's are matched to the vehicles keys, so to replace your ECU means you will need to change keys. Its complicated.

You said you can't find "someone at a reasonable distance" to diagnose your problems. 1) Who have you been to see thus far about the cars issues, and 2) what is your limit on distance?

It might be worth spending the money getting the Ecutek checked. With any luck it may be simple fix and may be cheaper in the long run than replacing the ECU

It would be interesting if the Euteck custom map was removed and the car returned to standard ( factory ) map and your issue was still present.

I have not looked through your posts if you car has any modifications that would enable the factory map to run the car safely.

also what was a lot of money

I have been to Mao's a few months ago, he wasn't there but the other guy drove it and thought it wasn't too bad?. But it didn't play up as bad when I was there!!

Its allways had a really annoying Hesitation on take off,but its all gotten worse lately, its all standard ( that I know of)apart from that ECUTEK and Big Exhaust. Bought the car just over 6 months ago

Im in Rockingham and to get it all the way to Malaga ( MMS) or similar just cant be done as they aren't open on Saturday and I finish work at 4:30 pm every weekday.Someone in Welshpool can be done if I leave work a little early.

I think I was quoted something like $350 for the first hour at MMS to see whats wrong with the car,(to me) that is too much. Im getting no check lights and I have used my brothers Fault Scanner a few times and it allways brought up nothing!?...
