Brad, the stock MY98 BOV can hold a bit. When i had my VF30, i ran 22psi on it for a short period and the BOV was doing great. The boost solenoid on the other hand had some issues.
Go with what chee said, mod the MY02 STi bov. there are at least a couple of ppl here who are using their stock bov and running quite a decent amount of boost on it

I was just wondering about this aswell about my stock bov!

I dont want to change it its already loud enough with APS CAI. But people have told me it will leak boost and is not as good as an aftermarket one.

All i have is a tbe and APS CAI so im guessing it should be fine!

no a ur stock bov is just as good if not better then most aftermarket bovs, sum1 has been feeding u crap. I noticed on my previous rex that wen i changed to an aftermarket one, my fuel econmy dropped and the car was running alot richer, prolly lost abit of power, im sure some of the more experienced ppl like stace and stuff can elaborate abit more.

wrx-sti, if your SSQV leaks, then obviously its not done up tight enough....mine has been running big boost with no problems, and i know people who have run way way more than 18 psi on SSQVs without a problem.

Dont get baby street spec gear, buy a true tested race type bov. Greddy Type R or Tial bov, stay away from piston design bov's. Or throw the stocker back on, it'll be fine for the boost your running.

32psi holds fine on any my99+ aluminium body stock bov with small modifcations.

I run stock modified valve, 24 psi currently...
Holds fine.

To modify, you plug the bottom small hole with a tapping screw, and drill a hole into the side body...search nasioc on how to do it.
