Xforce Exhaust

I have a 2013 Wrx sedan and thinking of changing to an xforce TBE system... Anyone running that system? What's it like?

+1, also will be after a tbe soon after my RS 40 is delivered. Xforce, ultrex, or any Japanese brands ppls have experiences with?

wrekx 26-03-2014 09:20 PM

I already jab an Ultrex TBE and not happy with it... It doesn't fit well, extremely loud and drones big time... Also the packing in the mufflers and coming out... That's why I'm trying to ask more peoples advice so I don't make the same mistake

I am running an X-Force tbe on my MY11 hatch. Never any issues with it, no drone and very nice sound (still sounds much different to the older wrx's with cannons though) one strange thing with the exhaust on the hatch is that the 2nd exhaust outlet from the right of the car generally stays quite clean when the others go black, simply due to the fact that the exhaust gasses are forced to the end outlet and not as much gets through to that one. I believe the sedan system is designed differently to the hatch though.

wrekx 26-03-2014 09:29 PM

Did you install yourself?? Was thinking of getting prestige exhaust to install this one cos they give 5yr warranty.. I'm looking at spending around 2k give or take and just want a quality system that flows with no drone

I have had the xforce varex system for over a yeah and love the sound and quality, good sound without too much drone

Did not install it myself

With 2k, u might just get norm butler exaust, very quiet at idle, starts shouting after 3k rpm. They r made to fit.

Otherwise, u can get x force for about 1k. I dont think warranty worth anything(?). Have seen 2012 sti making 343 whp with x force without much restrictions.

2k would get you a Butler built?

s20525xxx 26-03-2014 10:10 PM

Mine was 2300. Long time ago though. But if sth happens to it. I might just get xforce (touch wood).

Would 2k get me a Butler turbo back system fitted?

I don't see anything better about the butler exhausts at all

SL33P3R 26-03-2014 10:30 PM

Maximum Motorsport do the butler exhaust fitted for wide body sedan for $2250 I think

TROLLEY 27-03-2014 01:31 AM

Wow, inflation...
Paid $1750 for mine however I was one of the first to have it done on a 08+ hatch and it only has one outlet so a little less work.

Sethi3 27-03-2014 01:23 PM

Have you had a look at TurboXS?

Just putting it out there as no one seems to have mentioned them. They make good exhausts systems as well.

American Dave 27-03-2014 02:22 PM

Norm Butler TBE that is all

wrekx 27-03-2014 02:59 PM

Butler tbe $2700
Maximum motor sport $2250
Xforce $2200

Tough decision don't know which way to go???

I thought MMS got Butler to do their exhausts? Is he charging a premium to call in and experience his charm?

mARC 27-03-2014 03:16 PM

Possibly volume/on-seller discount but yeah that's a bit strange.

I wonder if there are different options on models or MMS only buy certain portions of the exhaust from Norm and fab the balance?

American Dave 27-03-2014 03:17 PM

I paid $2250 to STechnic fitted for my Norm

TROLLEY 27-03-2014 03:39 PM
Possibly volume/on-seller discount but yeah that's a bit strange.
Or he has priced them as such so that it's a deterrent to bothering him in the workshop :D

Dan [GTI] 27-03-2014 03:44 PM

But for that price he is still willing to endure the pain of constant follow-up visits.

wrekx 27-03-2014 04:08 PM

So mms use butler systems? I heard they don't like it if your running other workshops tunes... Is that true?

using the Perth-WRX mobile app

American Dave 27-03-2014 04:16 PM

MMS are licenced Ecutek resellers. They don't do open source tunes. They use a guy from MRT in Sydney to tune cars using Ecutek I believe.

American Dave 27-03-2014 04:17 PM

Norm will fabricate them and MMS or Stechnic will do the fitting and make any fine adjustments needed to make them fit just right.

Untrue. Used MMS for years. Guys couldn't give the slightest shit that my car was tuned at ASG

wrekx 27-03-2014 04:22 PM

The guys seemed great on the phone and really helpful... Just don't want to make the same mistake twice..

$1450 for x-force tbe from evo-r - fitted. Came with free dent in down pipe.

Nice sounding and looking system otherwise.

But if I could do it all over again...

REXXXED 27-03-2014 04:26 PM

Neil (likely the bloke on the phone) and the boys will look after you

I know Alex has long hair and looks a bit feminine. However you are 100% sure he has his period like a girl too? Sort of explains a lot I suppose....

And besides, what does that have to do with your car any who?

American Dave 27-03-2014 04:54 PM

weak

REXXXED 27-03-2014 05:03 PM

I thought my dad jokes would be right up your alley A.D?

ALLPAWS 27-03-2014 05:52 PM

Thanx for the feedback guys, so it seems like staying away from from the ultrex system is a good idea, xforce sounds ok in the utube clips, haven't seen a butler system yet. No one done a JDM system?

They also tune Autronics, Motec and etc when Wizza was there, shouldn't have changed too much but yes they recommend Ecutek.

+1 butler built system. Don't know how much mine cost as I bought it with it. Sounds absolutely porn though.

I love my Ultrex system. Was a bit droney at first, but it's now over a year old (but not many kms) and I don't notice any droning at all. Drove down to and around Augusta last week with the father in-law in the passenger seat and there were no issues for either of us. It fitted perfectly, looks extremely well made and sounds great :) Check out my vid in my driveway thread, only idle or just above, but you can hear it well in there...
