Ok so why do so many race teams use it to increase performance? It is after all an insulating layer the same as ceramic coating. Ceramic coating is better (why it is used in exotics), but it doesn't detract from the performance gains of heat wrapping.
wrapping works yeah, but race teams can cope with rebuilding an engine after each race if they have to, or in this case replacing/repairing cracked headers etc. whereas car manufacturers aim for longevity/reliability with their products. thats why high end manufacturers opt for the coating and also why its probably a better choice for street cars
if you have them coated why bother wrapping them aswell? the heat will be held inside the pipe by the ceramic coating rendering the wrapping useless
find someone with coated headers who has been sitting on WOT for a few minutes then put your dick on the header. yep, still warm
