Default scrubbing tyres

hey guys,

I fitted Bridgestone RE002's a while ago for a track day, the size is 235/45/18 (upsized from 225/40/18) and my wheels are 18x8.5 +45. my car isn't the whole "hellaflush" thing or running ridiculously low (about finger-tip gap between arch and tyres). my coilovers are running pretty stiff and i'm getting scrubbing on the outside tyre wall and it's also hitting the wheel arch inside. my guards were rolled when i bought the wheels. i'm sure i'm not the only one running this size and my car is definitely not as low as other cars running the same profile and/or bigger.
just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why my tires are scrubbing (apart from the obvious, "raise the car").

cheers

It's too low. The suspension will flex a few cm under heavy cornering, causing you to rub.

What confuses me is when I had my 225's the side wall was 40. I'm assuming these measurements are in millimetres so I wouldn't have though 5mm extra in height would have caused such an issue. I never had rubbing on the 225s at any track days so it's just had be baffled. I don't have an issue raising the car a few mm, I just wanted to ask the question

The 45 is not a measurement, it's an aspect ratio between the tyre width and height (?)

U current sidewall ticknesa is 235*.45=105.75mm, way bigger than ur old tyre. U normally down grade aspect ratio when change to wider tyres. 225*.4=90mm side wall thickness. U should get either 235/40/18 (235*.4=94mm) or 235/35/18 (82.5mm) or 245/35/18 (85.75mm).

If I were u, I will sell the re002, get a set of 245/35/18.

Good luck.
