Which TBE should I get?
Hey guys I've currently got a cat back exhaust on bugeye, I'm going to go full turbo back with hi flo cat. I'm looking at either a ultrex drift spec or an empire tbe.
Has anyone had any problems with these exhausts or could recommend one. Cheers Gareth |

Do you want to replace the whole exhaust, or just get a downpipe to mate up to your current catback?
I have an ultrex downpipe that goes to an invidia catback. I have no complaints.

I sometimes wonder what drives the big price differences between exhausts. Are you just paying for a name ? What's the difference between an $800 exhaust and a $2000 exhaust? Is it the type of steel used or something?

I have heard an Empire Performance exhaust on a WRX it sounded good. Plus it's a really cheap price.

Remember to factor in the cost of tune when going from cat back to turbo back. Will add a decent amount to the cost.

Butler TBE system FTW. Nice deep burble, stainless all the way through, I always preferred the muffler over a cannon too.

Price differences on zorsts ,continued-
The welding.. quality, care, craftsmanship. Fit.. some suppliers (say) they have a jig for the various models and use that, so the customer knows it will fit. Test- a few manufacturers actually test on various vehicles. Bends.. all zorsts have bends and these should be mandrel bent to maintain cross section so ensure good flow, this cost a bit extra. Testing.. noise, the market is not asking for quiet but it should have been tested for legality. Copying.. a good way to reduce cost is to copy a proven design, sometimes that works, sometimes not. As a paying customer I like low cost but I feel uneasy about rip-offs. |
