Default back to stock, problems..

I bought a gc8 a while ago with some modifications, I was told it had a built motor with cams etc, but had no receipts to prove it. I removed the turbo kit and ecu, and replaced with stock items. The problem now is that it is hard to start, it seems to be in limp mode and the exhaust pops regularly.

I am thinking that it may in fact have after market cams that are making things not right whilst running off the stock ecu.

Can anybody enlighten be further, cheers?

Why buy it without receipts or why buy it then return it back to stock?

I am asking both, but more the first one... surely whoever built the motor would know what internals and cams were used?

It was cheap to buy, and came with expensive parts that I wanted to take from it. Makes complete sense.

I removed an autronics ecu.

I went to a wreckers and bough all standard parts including the standard ecu and standard afm.

This is the ecu readout:
