Default Header ID

Hey guys
I pissed off the empire headers I bought due to too many issues with fitment and then poor quality gaskets and nuts/bolts resulting in leaks. (though credit to empire for giving a full refund)

Anyway, I replaced it with set of headers which I bought off gumtree because I needed some new headers asap. The guy was adamant they were unequal length but after installing them in my car I can tell that they are equal length because it now sounds like a honda and not a WRX (rumble gone). I think this guy was getting his EL/UEL confused *sigh* at least they fitted well.

Anyway, would appreciate it anyone could ID these headers so I have some idea where they came from / who made them / if they are any good. The UP has a small flex joint and the four runners combine to one at the UP connection.

I will probably upgrade to Ultrex or PSR UEL headers down the line as I much prefer the rumble from UEL.

Cheers
Simon

Edit : looks like they do have uel as per this link. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...773063&alt=web

So these kando ones have a good rep?
Also where would I take these for ceramic coating in Perth?

Why don't you get the Ultrex ones? Those kando things will be nearly sevenhundy with shipping, and at least your lining the pockets of a local if you get the Ultrex.

Just FYI, for anyone unsure about whether it's UEL or EL header, just take a piece of string to measure the runner lengths. Sure, it will be an estimate as you can't measure the centreline, but UEL will be significantly different. Case and point, the oem factory uel headers.

BTW they could be this: WRX_RACE_HEADERS, 1996 - 2002 Subaru WRX Race Headers w/ (2) EGR Turbo Headers WRX/STi, XS Power Inc.

I have ulteex el on mine, beautiful welding all metal gasket, copper washers and ss nuts/bolts. Just wrap it with titanium wrap, save the ceramic coating money for sth else, ie retune.

El is better for even out egt and I like that honda sound very much ; P

Having seen both the Ultrex and Kando headers, I would very much recommend the Ultrex ones.

Quality is spot on and the welds are very clean. They line up properly and for $599 I wouldn't be stuffing around waiting for parts from Jap land.

Empire headers....I have seen them, and the quality is what you pay for.

Ceramic coat if you have the cash to spend, and if you want to wrap them (especially UEL) pay someone to do it for you.

On the topic of ceramic coating, from what I have heard I think its around $250-300 for a set of headers.
