Not much wrong with the torsen units. Never once at the track no matter how much understeer, oversteer, lift off oversteer, snap oversteer and general shit driving and some good driving too, has my torsen diff ever done anything badly. It has always propelled my car forwards like it should, on street tyres and r-comps.

Sure if your chasing tenths of seconds at the track the clutch pack diffs might be better. The torsen units are virtually maintenance free also.

I have the spec c plated r180 it chopps up my driveway hard core when I'm turning to leave ....

On the track if you give it a little encouragement will oversteer very easily but I find it very controllable at the same time compared to my old diffs I've had

why bother changing diffs??

I'm not changing my rear diff. There is nothing wrong with it. It's just mildly whiney while reversing and turning which is normal. I read if you pull your handbrake up one click this negates the noise apparently. Not that I've tried! Otherwise it's good to know I can throw in a newer model STi rear diff
if mine ever goes Bang!
