MY12 STi Rear Diff ?
Hey Guys,
I was just wondering. Can I swap out a MY06 STi rear Diff from a newer 2012 STi ? Are they compatible ? Cheers :) |
gearbox code? diff type of m12? these are all things people require to help you...
|
Thanks Spektre. My 6 spd GB code is: DW-TY856WG7KA.
With regards to the MY12 STi diff. All I know is it's from a Aus delivered STi. Does that help at all ?
gearbox code? diff type of m12? these are all things people require to help you...
|
looks like that gearbox is a 3.54 final ratio. You will need to find out what the my12 sti diff is...
|
I will look into it. Thanks Spektre.

They should bolt up the same. Only difference is the '06 will be the last of the plated STi LSDs (except special models like spec C etc). And the '12 will be a helical gear LSD.

Does this mean the Plated STi lsd's are better than the 2012 Helical Diff?
Btw I noticed my rear Diff slightly whining when I reverse and turn slowly out of car park bays. From what I have been reading this is normal? I've never owned a STi so I'm not sure what is normal. Depends on your definition of 'better'...
STi thought it better to go towards torsen LSDs from '07 onwards in regular STis. Yet kept the plated in more aggressive variants like spec C. This seams to suggest they think the torsen is a better option for street sports cars where things like NVH and service life are important.... ie, they think people dont want thier expensive sports cars clunking when they go to the supermarket carpark. But think the plated is a better option for out right performance. |
