Have a look here

Dunno if Mao is still on here (cbf checking), but his stock was the genuine article which is supplied to Subaru, same part# and all. In any case, there is some good info on there. I feel your pain re the '99 AFM, they are too darn sensitive, and I've replace a few in my time.

Ebay MAF's are Chinese copies - Avoid like the plague.
The hunting idle is a dead giveaway for a cactus MAF on a 99-00 GC8

Do not drive on boost at all until you sort it or your next purchase will be a motor.

Did you check with Mao? As mentioned his item is the genuine article supplied to Subaru. Wouldn't mind knowing myself for future reference.

Same deal here, bought the MAF from ebay, didn't work, got sent a replacement, also didn't work. Cleaned my old MAF, works better than the Ebay MAF! let me know how you go with Mao, might have to buy one too....

Is there a contact number for MAO? I tried to PM him but no reply. I would also like a new MAF for my GC8 as the one I got from eBay did not fix my hunting idle.......
Cheers
