Sti 6 speed Clutch strength
peoples,
how extreme can you go with the clutch in these before your going to damage the gearbox? Assume about 300-330kw motor... What would a good multi plate clutch and LW flywheel cost?

Apparently these boxes are coping with over 600nm and 650bhp as for how long is anyone's guess, so if you go for a real deal 450-500hp fly you will be fine, only things that 'might' give u grief are the syncro's. Twin plate carbon clutch would be the go and set you back the bad side of 2500, but worth it in the long run!

the guys over the u.s are using tilton twin plate clutches and these are holding 500+ atw hp... they come with flywheel assembly.
a standard sti clutch will take 220kw atw but starts slipping at levels higher than that.. |

ditto, i found the stock 6 speed clutch started slipping around 300hp mid-gear and on-power, race fuel tune didnt help, cooked the clutch in a heartbeat and upgraded to the exeedy type with light flywheel, still holds to this day.

I have read plenty of reviews from people that are putting out 230+KWATW and love it.
