Default Clutch Shudder

I have an MY98 of which I got a new clutch put in by RMS, now my question is does anyone else have problems with clutch shudder ?

I seem to be suffering quite a bit lately and was just wondering if anyone out there has had the same problem with a clutch from RMS?

Don't get me wrong they do any awesome job but just wanna hear your thoughts.

Cheers

shudder usually means the faces arent clean.

but it depends on the type of clutch you got, the pressure plate you got and whether your rear main seal is leaking

my original clutch used to shudder a bit on cold days. I have had my second clutch in now for about 2000kms and its just liek teh stocker but with an uprated pressure plate. No shudder at all with this one. Only thing is that being new and having a freshly machined flywheel, it squeals a bit when cold, but this goes away after a minute or so of driving (usually after first use).

REX clutches were notorious for shuddering.

If it is just cold mornings and is smooth after a couple of minutes – that is normal on classic rexs. In my limited experience, if a rebuilt clutch shudders, it does improve after a few weeks (well maybe I got used to it?). That supports what Tuna says – contaminants wear off. If it is really bad all the time, take it back.

so can you give us some details as to what type of clutch you have ?

If it shudders, be a bit more "positive" with your clutch technique. (let it off quicker)

Will usually shudder when cold and you are a bit slow to get off it.

It is an organic clutch and yeah I do understand that it shudders when it is cold but it just seems to be getting worse, I will be taking it in for them to check it out.

Thanks for the response guys

Hi, just wanted to ask (been to shy till now) about my clutch. It shudders in 1st when its cold, after reading this Iam thinking its not as bad as everyone else has told me ,which is that i need a new clutch. Is this a sign my clutch is dieing or not?I drive a 97 WRX and it just hit 100,000, with stock clutch.
