Default 2006 WRX brake upgrade

Hi All,

I'm a bit new here, so please be nice

I have a 2006 WRX with stock brakes.

I've decided I want to upgrade the brakes (rotors and pads) but want to keep the existing red 4pot and 2pot calipers.

The car is never tracked - I just want a nice street upgrade.

I seem to read a lot on the internet that the setup on the 2006 WRX is pretty good, but for the 5 years i've owned the car I've always seen them to be one of the weak points of the car... wooden pedan feel and ABS kicks in early if I give them a hard push every now and then.

For my own reasons i've moreorless narrowed it down to DBA slotted rotors. I know I don't need slotted but I prefer the look.

At this point I wont be doing braided lines.

My questions are:

1. After doing research online, it seems the rears can be changed to ones off the 2010 Liberty/Legacy GT.

- Can someone please confirm how they're different to the rears on a stock 2006 WRX?

- If they're bigger, do they require a different mounting bracket for the caliper or something?

Here's an upgrade package from fastwrx.com which says 'The front rotors are the same size as your stock front WRX rotors, but you'll get larger rear rotors -- the same ones found on the 2010 Legacy GT.'

https://www.fastwrx.com/collections/...rs-2002-05-wrx

Has anyone done this exact upgrade to the rear?

2. What are the best pads for street use?

All I want is good pedal feel.

After speaking with Prospeedracing I was given two options:

a) Project MU, and

b) Dixcel

Can anyone confirm out of these two which one is better? Dixcel is a little cheaper.

3. Where is the best place to get all of these parts?

I've only spoken with Prospeedracing.

Is there anyone else in Australia that can supply the DBA slotted rotors and good pads?

Thankyou in advance

I get some shit for this but here you go

I picked up a brake package from Mao at Evo R for a silly price.

Pmu pads all round disk at rottors. They stop on a 20 cent piece

Fitted the same to Darrens 300 kw gc8 and i am just amazed.

Note, ss brake lines, and PMu brake fluid was also installed

If your abs goes off easily you might need to upgrade your tyres first. What are they?
