Default electric prob

friday i got in car after disarming the alarm typed my pin number in and the little display that shows air temp and other ignition functions didnt come up.
turn it off then back on came up after few seconds.

today driving home my radar kept flashing hi volts, and turning off then on.. car seemed to jolt a little bit. then radar flashed low volt but mostly was flashing hi volt all the way home.. just pulled in the garage and car turned off turned it back on it started ... turn off again turned on one guage was dim almost off the other was ok.

i also noticed engine feedback noise through the stereo left speaker which wasnt there this morning.

very weird what could have happened im going to go check it out after dinner .. hoping it is a battery terminal loose or somthing but not sure.. ?

ay ideas

Thanks

Sounds like your alternator has crapped itself. Get a multimeter and check the voltages when the car is running.

Id say check the contact inbetween the lead that runs off your alternator on the top under the black rubber boot.

ok well i just checked it.. the negative terminal was slightly loose. and also noticed when i turned key on and went out there the kms travels on a and b were both 0 like they had been cleared ?
anyway tighned the lead and checked for any trouble codes. went for drive and watched the battery voltage.

how ever it seems to be ok.. see how it goes over next few days. becuase it was somthing that didnt happen all the time.

I have had a few friends get this sort of problem. Worse still, it can sometimes
be a corroded connector where the battery earth is bolted the chassis. Worth
popping it off every so often and cleaning the leads at both ends.
