pretty old idea dude. the only bad thing about the screwdriver technique is that it gets very messy.

Not as messy as dropping 4lt of oil down your driveway whilst trying to undo a tight filter....

In case anyone doesnt know, when that happens just hammer it with detergent and let it soak for a few mins! No oil stains!

yep -I stab mine with a screw driver when its too hard. works a treat

yep also did screw driver trick, messy but worked and saved a lot of time and pissing around.

This is supposed to be done, to prevent the rubber binding (and subsequently getting damaged) when its screwed on. It'll also be that tiny bit easier to remove the filter when its time to change it again, but still it shouldnt be an easy hand removal.

that works a treat. daddy taught me how.

few times had to use alot of muscle but otherwise its been fine.

riggers gloves & two hands.

depends on the size of the filter though, some of the jdm fitted filters are tiny.
