Auto STi I/C Water Spray
Hey all,
Quick question - I want to turn my manual I/C factory water spray into an "Auto" waterspray. I understand that you can fit a Hobbs switch in order to get it to activate at say, 12psi for example....however, how do I go about integrating this into the factory set up? I've searched Rexnet/Nasioc etc and haven't had much luck Any advice much appreciated. -D

hobbs switch gets teed off on of the boost lines and then you hook up the hobbs switch in parallel with the manual in cabin switch.

I suppose that withe the manual switch (given that its on and off, not on when held down and off when released) you will be able to switch it off completely. Otherwise, get a three position switch, one for manual, one for auto and an off.
Have this running in my car using the wagon bottle under the bonnet, existing wires as the loom is the same between wagon and sedan and just two wires running from the hobbs to the switch. Works a treat. At 8psi, you get two weeks from it. I think there is a link with a wiring diagram, follow that and it's piss easy. just t-piece it off. Water spray lovin. One question, are you running front mount? if so you may find that it will leak constantly.

Coventrys sell them, well at least that's where I bought mine 3 years ago. Instead of converting the Manual switch to an Auto, why not purchase a seperate Auto switch, and have both of them like I did? Manual mode is handy for MCs, drags while you're waiting in line for your turn and temps are just going up. I had an 8psi Hobbs switch too, each bottle lasts around 3 weeks. Just put some water in each time you fill up at the servo, no sweat. |

A diagram I drew up when I was doing mine, if you're using a TMIC and washer bottle. If you're using a boot mounted reservoir and/or FMIC, you'll need to use a one-way valve like in Wilmo's diagram. Last edited by scoobysix; 02-11-2006 at 11:03 PM. |
