Some advice needed on exhaust manifolds
Hi everyone,
I have a set of X-Force equal length extractors on my car at the moment. They make great power, great noise, and they are in great condition. The only problem is, I cant run an external gate with them, because they are one piece. My mechanic is a bit reluctant to hang a wastegate off a one-piece aftermarket manifold, because it'll more than likely crack over time. My current thinking is: Remove X-Force headers, sell them. Fit stock manifold, ported and ceramic coated inside and out, with an aftermarket cross-pipe, and an aftermarket up-pipe modified to fit external wastegate. My question is, has anyone here done that with good result? Where can I get an aftermarket cross-pipe from? (Tode, do you know the answer to this?) Cheers for ya help everyone |

Tode had one fabricated by some dude in Balcatta if I remember correctly?
Its all on NASIOC joesack, and the ported stock headers with aftermarket cross pipe, actually came in 2nd on the test they did with ALL headers. The best headers were the Perrin items, but these require the twinscroll sump as the bottom half of the headers is the same as the twin scroll units apparently. So going by this, you may actually be better off reverting back to modified stock headers? Also have a read up on Rexnet regarding aftermarket headers vs. modded stockers. A guy tested them against a new set of Tomei unequal length headers - long story short, once the headers were fitted, E.Ts and terminal speeds dropped... once the modded stockers went back on, he gained more power everywhere.... weird? Didnt sean do this to josh's car aka abuse? Modded headers etc? Sounds like a good idea though....not many people have done it, and seems to be working in Tode's case so why not eh?

I think Tode used Prestige Exhausts in Malaga.
Look into the "Injen" cross pipe Joe.

Not so bad for you, cos you have rotated turbo...more room to fit gate up top.
With standard turbo position, need to run gate further down, and puts a lot of stress on the manifold where it bends around. |

keep the xforce
make an adaptor to high/angle mount the turbo then u can have ur gate dont forget to ceramic coat inside and outside, then powdercoat the outside and heat wrap it
