Default DCCD vs Non-DCCD

Hey guys i was looking for opinions on DCCD vs Non-DCCD.

DCCD it seems you cannot get aftermarket diff's?

But with the Non-DCCD you still can play with the diff's, including the middle one.

Anyone got any opinions on this topic, im thinking for the future.. putting a 6MT into my GC8.

go the dccd if you can source it, you'll love it (read- nuts) - then hate it (read- no rear traction) - then love it more once you got the hang of it (read- big easy drifts or muchly reduced understeer- however you look at it .

If you can afford DCCD, then get it. Makes for a very versatile car when you get used to running DCCD.

fully bound its closer to full diff lock (20kg)
unbound its semi-open with biased rear wheel torque.

ive also noticed that some dccd centres seem less or more bound then others, but fully locked they all feel the same.

most rally guys dont tend to run them as eventually they get too hot and tend to bias the rear too much when fully locked. (as opposed to just buying a 20kg centre)

you should be able to source a 5 speed dccd centre for around $1k, getting the control gear, switch, fitting and actually wiring it up is of course going to cost extra.

dccd is also a 1:1 centre, so you can run a 3.9/3.54 combination stock wrx box. you must upgrade the rear to a 3.9,

6 speeds from my05 onwards have dccd standard, although there are so many varients out there from japanese imports that your best to just look at the rear housings to see if they have DCCD or not.

But that limits your choice when it comes to the diff's right? like not being able to run clutch or quife LSD's?

you can change your front and rears without affecting the centre diff.
the centre diff only affects torque distribution between the front and rear, which is the whole reason it is electronic.

the dccd centre is totally adjustable dont forget, its not just an on-off switch.

i have a 1 way front LSD and a rear welded diff at the moment with a DCCD centre. it runs fine.
