Back on topic...

How much money have you got for a RWD conversion?

Welding up your centre diff will only cost you several hundred bucks. And if you want to upgrade to the r180 diff and hubs, then that will probably be under $1K including install.

A older 5MT DCCD gearbox is pretty expensiver. I know of someone in perth who sold two DCCD 5MTs for $3500 each just recently.

The stronger 6MT DCCD usually goes for around $6K

shes paying, Im building doing the labour. I dont want to much power out of the car as its her first car and the only reason we are really doing this is that 1. its differant and something Im happy to take on as a project and 2. I run a rotory and they are reliable as all fuck I need a backup car because I know the 7 will die hahahahaha.

also its not as such a rwd conversion as it is building the car from a 1.6L fwd into a 2.0L rwd. Hence skipping all the AWD parts...

ok thanks for the help guys, I'm on it will contact denver and check on rexnet asap. I also called Abdus at tenagah and he suggested setting it up as an awd wrx faker and then convert to rwd instead of just going straight for rwd?

It will cost you about hmmmm $20 to weld the centre diff, and make it RWD, it cost me nothing, and the swap takes about an hour..

the box strength isn't so much of an issue with it in RWD, i popped an output shaft, but that was due to the diff failing, big time, and locking up ont he casing meaning all the power in 3rd suddenly wanted to go somewher,e so the next weakest item broke..

that said i have been told of people slotting 25 boxes into a rex, and using an r33 diff in the rear, that will cost a bit, as you'll need to fabricate a fair bit of stuff, get an adaptor plate made to mate the box and motor together, and then get a custom clutch made up, as you'll need a custom flywheel to make it all work..

but, realistically, the stock gear will handle the task, r180 if you can afford it, but otherwise, it will hold up to the punishment, just don't drop second with 4 people in the car at motorvation, and you should avoid popping diffs
