Default Manifold exchange

Hi guys/girls.

I have a '98 wrx, and as most of you would know, standard, they come with the side feed injectors.
I was thinking about upgrading my injectors, but to top feed instead.

Does anyone one know if it is possible to just swap the whole standard intake manifold and fuel rail from a '01 or later that come with the top feed fuel rail, straight onto a GC8, or would this be to much of a mission?

My mechanic told me it would take him fu(k all to make me up a custom parallel rail for my GC8 to suit the top feed injec. but just wanted to know what everyone thought on this type of upgrade.

If possible, would you just swap the whole intake mani. and rail etc or
upgrade to a custom parallel rail?

Any/all thoughts on this would be much appriciated.

Cheers

Mat.

If you swap the whole manifold to a new one, wont you need to change some thing on the wiring loom as the new manifold have slightly different design sensors and other stuff?

If its to much of a mission, I won't bother, as this is going ahead very soon, like next week soon, but just don't know which way too go.
I would have also thought, the newer intake mainfold etc off the later model ('01 etc), would be better as they flow more than the GC8(?) is this not true?
Then again, just as Mister Two has said, would there be alot of alterations I would have to do that would make it a pain in the ass?

Sorry guys, I also forgot to mention, I have the Autronic SMC and its running antilag & rotational idol. It also has the kicker solenoid connected to it. Would this be a problem to exchange to the new manifold etc if I were to get it?

ps cheers for the help guys

why not just upgrade the injectors and keep them sidefeed, is there added benefits of top feed over side feed i dont know about and are they worth the cash to do a complete manifold swap? are the beneifts worth it? why not just uprade to 550cc or 650cc side feeds?

My mechanic gave me choice to do so, then he told me, it would be cheaper for me to go top feed and for him to make me up a custom rail, than for me to upgrade my side feed (don't ask?) so I thought, if its gunna be better to just upgrade the whole intake manifold etc and just slap the new injectors in than for him to make me a new rail.

Then he told me about the rails on the rex and how they are crap and all over the wheres, so he gave me the option of a parallel rail which I have been told are quite benificial???

Also, the injec. he has soarced for me are 800cc as I have decided to go all out

upgrade to an 02+ manafold decaps your injectors and bang u have 800cc injectors, can usually do this cheaper than buying 800cc injectors.
