Default sergging

hey guys. my99 is having abit of problems.. i think its the afm, but need some advice..

wen i drive it seems 2 be slightly sergging, like its lagging or something, its not a smooth ride. reason i think its the afm, is caus wen i first bought it, i put on a STUPID k&n popd filter, ive now been told that the oil from the filter gets onto the wire of the afm and can caus this problem.

any help would be great.

o, and i just changed the spark plugs and leads.

thanks.

Give this a try Boost,
Take the AFM assemsly out of the housing and give it a spray with some quality carby cleaner give the internals a tickle with cotton wool buds[ the ones for cleaning your ears out with] to clear off any surface deposits and dry off naturally before reassembly.
Possibly double check also the spark plugs gapping for correct gaps as per OEM specs.
Cheers Nails

Don't use carby cleaner, it's for carby's....use contact cleaner, it's designed for this sort of thing, Dick Smith, Supercrap, bout $20 & last's forever.

Yep. K&N or any oiled type filters generally don't go well with hotwire AFMs. There are a few people who have enjoyed some success with them. But as a general rule of thumb stick to either OEM filter or a dry element Pod filter.

Use electrical contact cleaner. Give it a good blast from 10cm away and then let it dry before you start up the engine again.

Also consider MY99 and 00s tend to have pretty sensitive AFMs and alot of people have ended up replacing them.

When it is cold, they do have a bit of a ride where it does surge a bit. Aparently it happens to MY00's etc (does with mine aswel). When i get up to the 4 1/2-5 1/2 thou in revs i think im getting boost spikes due to my 3" TBE but flattens out after 5 1/2. Tis weird, feels like it just gets a kick of power suddenly, and then flattens out
