Default noisey coilovers ?

lads, mate of mine has the old kings coilovers in his my00 sedan and they make like a clunking kinda noise when ever they move ? any time he goes over a bump or up a curb or something they all make this clunking noise.

anyone know what it might be ? they are fairly old so he has been lookin into gettin some new ones. he would rather have these ones fixed/rebuilt if possible coz hes only using them for the height. he doesnt do any track work just yet so the cheaper option would be better

any opinions ?

cheers

Wade

My girlfriends GX had the same problem, took it back to where i got it lowered and they said its the tighter wound part if the spring clicking together when it compresses. They put some sorta tape where they were 'chattering' as he called it. Been fine ever since.

Pfft Teins go a LOT LOT lower than Kings. In fact I had 0 mm of ground clearance with Teins and the suspension could still go lower.

Wilkinson's Supsension in Bayswater. Cheapest place i found to supply, fit and align. Plus it's just around the corner from my house. They've also gotta an airbagging guy working for them if ya want it ULTRA low... =)

Could be a spring not seated properly. Unlikely though if they have been in the car for a while.

I've seen Rexes with coil overs lower than Rexes with airbags.
