analog to digital tv
lads/girls, i just replaced my grandmothers tv in her kitchen. No point in going analog as they're being phased out. SO i purchased a flat screen with digital tv receiver. problem is channels 9 and 2 are always pixelated or scattered. Is this a tv issue or does antenna need replacing? Is there a booster unit i can plug into the existing antenna cable to increase signal strength?
Any help appreciated. Jme

Are there other antenna wall jacks in the house? If so there's probably a splitter/booster box up in the roof connected to the antenna. Might need to get someone to check the antenna as well.. or cables as already mentioned.
Did 9 & 2 work ok before? |

Also check the antenna point on the wall, or more specifically the cable that runs inside the wall from the point up to the antenna/booster. Mine was corroded and needed to be replaced.

Its the reception or lack of thats causing the problem, you could try rescanning the box jsut to be sure its good. saw some problems on 7 with the tennis the other day and thought my box was stuffed but it was just seven playing.
boosters may work but it depends on their frequency range. I would suggest a new ant and a new cable run and connectors. Antenna doesnt have to big to expensive cause the big ond antennas used to be for the lower frequencys that digital doesnt use. So alot of the new antennas are cheaper and simpler by consequence. Jme, sometimes it comes down to the quality of cabling that has been used. Like so many things, you get what you pay for.
