Default Geeky Nerd SQL Question

I tried googling, but couldn't be fucked trawling a quadzillion pages so if there is any nerdy geek 3lit3 computer hax0rs here, can anybody tell me how many rows a SQL 5 DB can have?

I have just been writing entries into a SQL DB I have for a webpage for a BMW dealership and the data overwrote itself after somewhere between entry 375 and entry 590.

Needless to say, I have a backup but it is from 7 hours ago and I have done alot of work since then and I am missing 7 months worth of data.

I don't need a lecture on backups and shit, I have been up too long to care

Just need to know if anybody knows how many entries it can handle before I need to start a new table.

Cheers

wouldnt the data overriding be because of human error because you can have millions of rows?

SQL can handle millions of rows. However depending on how you have setup
your table there could be issues like you describe.

For example, if one of the indexes is an "autoincremental" key, then for
EVERY record the server will add one number to the last value used.

This makes it easy to ensure every record has a unique key, eg starts from
1 and goes up. However, if records are deleted the numbers are never
reused.

The key values only ever go up. So if your field is an integer type and it
ends up hitting 32768 or 65536 (unsigned) then the field will overflow
causing an error every time you try to add a new record.

So ask yourself... How many records has it EVER seen added, including all
testing, dummy runs and deleted rows ?

Ended up not being a UID at all
I am embarrassed to say... Human error

i forgot a ";" at the end of a few of my lines.
Killed the DB when I decided to manually enter them at the bottom.

Lesson learnt.

Turns out, excel is my friend and BMW are happy again.. Yay... now all they need to do is give me an M6!
