Default Italy Trip

Guys, I've got a week break in France and Italy coming up in May and need to start my planning. Will be in Paris for a couple of days at a friend's place so that's covered but wondering has anyone done the train trip from Paris to Italy? What's it like, etc?

And I know there would be a fair few people in here with kwality first hand info as to where to go once in Italy so hit back with some suggestions.

Will have 5 days there so sleep is optional and time is of the essence.

I did a 6 month stint in Europe as part of my career working in cruise ship casinos. i can recommend Venice as somewhere you should definitely visit. Also just down the road from venice is a town called Mestre (or Mesre), they have a pub down there that we affectionately referred to as the Aussie Bar (lots of aussie memorabilia and for some reason XXXX on tap). Let me know where else you are going and i might be able to name a few more places to visit.

Mate anywhere in Italy is awesome! Rome is overated but the sites are amazing, the rest is crap, the food isn't that great in Rome either.
Amalfi coast is magnificent, if only I had the STi to drive around those windy NARROW roads.
Sienna was a highlight to.
And Venice is just mind blowing, this should be a must for any trip to Italy!

Hire a car, they are such good drivers over there, its a free for all on the roads but they pay attention to whats happening around them unlike here in Oz.

I know I have missed a few places........will think about it

Nah - you'll see fark all in 1 day - better off doing 3 days in Rome.
