Default Caltex 98

Anyone tried it yet ?

Im still waiting for my BP to run dry.

Some guys over at the silvia forums were bitching about it, but they also mentioned they got the first batches that were fresh out of tanks that previously had 95 in, and hadnt been drained properly..

Curious to know..

Yeah i heard that rumour as well

Caltex is owned by Texaco/Chevron. totally different companies.

However most fuel companies seem to have a sharing policy where all local fuel is produced and distributed to various venders to process their own additives.

BP Rep recently let out that theyre not supplying local gas stations with 98, so Peak and Caltex are getting their 98 from somewhere else besides BP my main guess singapore...

Ummmmm, the caltex 98 ron petrol is BP petrol anyhow!

I filled up with it on the way down south last week...i found it to be quite good, just as good as BP ultimate.

There was an article in a FPV/HSV type mag recentlt that place it just ahead of BP ultimate after a number of tests.

all those 3 threads discuss is who has what and where to get supply from.

Im after some opinions on who has actually used it and how it rates in comparison to Ultimate.

Just out of curiosity, but how do we measure the difference in RON 98 quality between Caltex and BP ?

Butt feeling ? Dyno ?

here is my 2 cents.....i know this guy who owns a couple of BP stations and from what i've heard BP has the main refineries here and most companies get there fuel from BP. not to sure what they do to vary them. as for people getting a bad mix from the old 95 tanks there is usually a long process that takes place to clean them before the next lot goes in. you just cant start dropping 98 in to what use to hold 95. in most cases i believe that the tanks have to go thru certain tests and to meet certain standard before companies give the go ahead to start using it to hold the new fuel......1 in particular is there is to be none of the old fuel left in it.

disclaimer: all information in the above post is true and correct to my knowledge and i have not been influence by any party to make this notice.
hahaha.....
