Default Mac Nerds, check these things out

I found a program that detects bluetooth and when it comes in or out of range it will run an applescript

So I have my phone paired to the computer, when I walk away from the computer with my phone, the computer detects a loss of bluetooth connection, runs this applescript:

tell application "Finder"
activate
open application file "ScreenSaverEngine.app" of folder "Resources" of folder "A" of folder "Versions" of folder "ScreenSaver.framework" of folder "Frameworks" of folder "Library" of folder "System" of startup disk
end tell

and Turns the screensaver on (I have it password enabled)

I am working on a script which disables the screensaver and puts in the password, but as I have no idea about applescript yet, it is proving a little difficult.

The program I run is called: proximity http://reduxcomputing.com/download/Proximity.app.zip

Also another cool trick I found whilst messing around with trying to figure out the command above on google is this:

Open terminal and type: (NO Line Breaks) /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background &

It will activate your screensaver on your desktop, I run a screesaver called lotsawater, so my desktop is raining, I also just tried sound spectrum which picks up sounds thru the mic, also looks really cool. To stop it, just close terminal

Sorry, I know its Perth-Wrx and not Perth-Mac but bah!

I usually just use desktop hotspots or whatever they are called, top left for screensaver top right for dashboard.

However this is a million times more convinient!!!

There is a thing like that for Windows, but it works on USB somehow. You have a thing on your keyring, when you walk away from your PC it auto-locks ..

Windows Key + L FTW!

The more i read this stuff, the more tempted I am to buy a Macbook....its really the only laptop I can find that gets Editors Choice in most of the reviews, and comes in at under 2500 with a 2ghz Core 2 Duo
