i am andy but wanna relax for a few months just want a bit of a picture on working conditions and attitudes towards work!!

cant wait to get out there, just need to get used to the weather first!!!

60hrs+ a week is easy mate. everyone in w.a. is on ice. even school kids (its true, i saw it on the news).

wood machinist is a trade in Aus and not a simple one. But hey try your luck it only hurts once when you lop a finger off.

been a wood machinest for 14 years!! since leaveing school and going college for 4 years to get all my qualifications doing it just not so sure if i want to carry on doing it?? btw seen loads of accidents with other machinests and apparently you dont feel it til later on!!!!

from your original post it didn't sound like you were a machinist. Expect approx $18-$25/hr as a good one, more if you can program a CNC and run it well. I can give you some contacts if you like. averagehours for joinery/machining is 45-55 at the moment as construction is going bannana's. and I'm missing only one finger and your right takes at least half hour before it really starts hurting.

can program cnc/cad cam and point to point but better with edgebanders, spindles, saws etc my certifacates if they are recognised over there are

nvq level 2 carpentry and joinery

nvq level 2 bench joinery

nvq level 2 wood machineing
nvq level 3 (advanced craft)

gonna be heading towards perth once we get out there so yeah any info would be great,work in a kitchen manufactoring place at the moment on £9.25 an hour think thats about $22 dollers an hour??

do the factorys have air con??

can see why my first post was mis-leading,what i meant was done machineing for years now and was just curious to another option for a job that is ok pay, but that you dont have to think too hard ie not a lot of stress!!!

is there anything that is in demand that you dont need loads of qualifications for???
