Default Burning prog ??

Hi all i know that we have a few computer gurus on this forum so i am hoping that you can help me. I am making backup copies of all my dvd's ( I have a 7 year old daughter and all of my originals are getting stuffed) and i am after a faster burning prog than Nero. Currently i am using Dvddecrypter followed by dvd shrink v3.1 and then Nero 7 ultimate edition. A single disk takes me roughly about 4 hours to complete and with over 300 dvds that is going to take a while. So any suggestions
cheers

ps All dvds that i copy are purley for personal use

yeah, sure, we all believe you own the originals

anyways seriously.......4 HOURS?!?! hmm, for some reason, i dont think nero is your problem, even at 1x speed, with shrinking, on a 2.4ghz PC with 16x dvdrw should only be taking at the most 1 and half hours, if not faster.

Why not just buy one of those $25 disc cleaning machines, supposed to take all the scratches out????

Ummm. Shouldnt DVD Shrink be able to handle all of that. Decrypt, re-compress, and Burn? I know mine does. Check your preferences. For me, its a few clicks and I walk away from DVD Shrink. 40mins later its all done with no more interactivity with me.

yes and no.

Yes, using dvdshrink will drecrypt and compress, and yes, your disc will be burnt using it, but it wont work without nero being installed.

I can do a full disc in around 25 - 28min.

Id say your problem is either:
-DVDShrink is running as 'low priority' or 'deep analysis' is selected, which can dramatically increase the time to do a disc, and to be perfectly honest, i rarely notice any difference in the quality of the end product with this on or off, so as Mister Two suggested, check your preferences.

-Something is hogging you computers resources.

DVD Decryptor shouldn't be needed for your requirements. Have Nero installed so there is a burning program available.

DVD Shrink will decrypt, compress from DVD9 to DVD5 and burn.

You can't burn a DVD faster than the DVD media you are using and the speed of your drive. Check both of them and perhaps upgrade to faster drives & medium.

i.e. if you are burning at 2x its slow. 16x is much faster.

Unfortunately burning 300 DVD's will take a very very long time.

Kato is right...for the most part, you dont need to use DVD Decrytor at all, with a few exceptions.
A few of the newer dvd's requires a bit more playing around, and you do need to use dvd decryptor, however, even with this, it still should not be taking 4 hours.
I thought of one other option for you, and that is change the media you are using, I know that if I put 'Laser' brand discs in my burner, it wont even burn at 1x.

Get DivX for free off the internoodle if you don't already have it. Copy all your DVD's onto the program, then you have them all on hard disc each compressing to roughly 700MB for your average movie. Burn again at will (I can fit 6 movies on 1 disc), but you will need a DVD player capable of playing DivX codecs. Unless like me the PC is connected to a big LCD TV then you can just use the PC.

Or you can get two other programs called AnyDVD and CloneDVD. AnyDVD removes the CSS encryption on DVD's enabling them to be copied with CloneDVD. As the name suggests it makes a clone of the DVD and you can choose if you want to keep stuff like director's comments etc or not. This will take up 1 DVD for 1 movie and all up takes 30-35mins to complete, and will play on DVD player cause it's an exact clone.

I got these programs on discs if ya CBF'd

Couple of things, If your machines grunty enough pick up a second DVD Drive and do it on the fly. Saves having to burn to the hard disk, then come back change the DVD ect ect.

The other thing, and i can't find a link atm, but you can rent/buy CD/DVD replication towers. These units have something crazy amount of drives and you can do like 15-20 DVD's at a time. There normally used for mass producing CD/DVD media for advertising for small/medium businesses, but i've heard of them been used for copying as well.

Not sure however if the copyright encryption crap would stop it from working...
