ok i was going to put on the new wheels on my car on the w/e when i came across a wheel nut on the back passenger side wheel that is completley stuff, one side of it is nearly round instead of the hexagon shape, after deciding that its pretty much stuffed anyway we got the rattle gun onto it but had no luck with that, it just keeps slipping. These wheel nuts were done up that tight anyway that we bent the crap out of the bar that comes with the car to an unuseable point.

how the hell do you get it off?? im sure workshops etc would come across this from time to time.

the most extreme thing to do is to glue a socket (I have also heard of welding a socket however never tried it) over the nut, wait for it to dry then have a crack again. This will render a piece of your socket set useless however, so buy a cheapy first.
Other things I have heard of include getting someone who is really good with a file (don't try an angle grinder),to shave back the nut on either side, then use an adjustable spanner. you have to be so careful that you don't file back your rims however.

yeah we tried to do that but we used the same size socket as what the nuts were (19mm) used a hammer to bash it on, maybe should try the smaller socket. If i get time one night after work will give that a go.

cars going in to WA Suspensions sat morning, could just leave it for them to sort out. theyd come acroos this abit, seeing as theyd be removing wheels everyday.

if you know someone, or you are handy with a welder, ive been told that you can cut the end of a hex screw off, and weld that onto the end of the wheel nut, then use a socket to get the nut off

we have some special wheel nut removal tools at work, im sure most workshops have them. They are like a reverse tapered thread. Though it depends on how much space there is to work around the wheel nut.

depending on the room you can chiesel a cut/grove and then use the chiesel on an angle sideways and hammer it off. Dono if that makes sense. That does generally work (if there is room) but oyu have to be careful.

^^^ Once false move and you'll chisel up your wheels.
