Friend of mine had his double driveway done for just over 3k so that sounds about right.

We sub contract out the installation of concrete on commercial jobs all day everyday. I have put some approximate rates down for you based on you doing all the prep. i.e. bobcat etc.

Lumeah limetsone $65 /m2
Exposed Aggregate $65 /m2
Normal Grey $30 /m2
Coloured Concrete $35 /m2
Clay pavers supply only $25 /m2
Clay pavers install only $25 /m2

Hope this helps

yeh mate you'll find a lot of smaller companies will be around $45-55sqm for liquid limestone.. but for a $10 difference i'd check their previous work..
What are you making the patio out of, wood or steel/colourbond??? if colourbond ive got a mate who can get it for you a bit cheaper

URABUS - how much prepping is needed, does the sand (yellow?) have to be all compacted and fully flat etc like with paving, or just basically level ??

URABUS - cheers for that i'll let ya know what i think after a few more quotes, wasnt really looking at prepping it all myself as i dont really have enough time/energy!

NANG3 - i put up a 10m x 4m pergola with a mate of mine, saved about $1k in labour and it looks a treat so its basically just the flat surface we need to sort out.

also would like to know URABUS how much prep is needed if i can get some time off work to even out the surface...?

That quote seems ok. Cost me 10K for back and front drive. Also if you phone around and manage to get a cheaper quote you may be getting poor qulaity i.e not the same depth of limestones as the more $$ ones.

Anyone interested, my brother works for Boral and also lays concrete so he gets pretty good rates....feel free to give him a call for a price. Any finish, any product eg. liquid limestone, normal grey, exposed aggregate etc...

yeh thats also true, some places do a min of 50 or 60mm for non-driveway applications, others recommend 80mm.... I wouldnt go less than 80mm and when me and my mate do mine im probably just going to go for 10mm as its only about $5-6 more per metre at cost...
