LS1 isn't as heavy as you think. Its becoming a fairly common swap in the US in RX7s, and apparently the distribution is almost identical to a wankel

From my old Clubsport R8 days I think the LS1 is 170kg and the LS6 ls7 are like 160kg.
Which is not a whole bunch more up front. They are all alloy remember and jester is right about the RX7's you can get a kit for them in the states.
