Default Cops & Robbers...

For those of us who have had a car or house broken into and items stolen, how many have heard anything back from the cops about the items and how long did it take??

Also, was information only found after badgering the police about it or did they contact you out of the blue?

Cheers, Red.

You wont hear anything unless 1) something gets hocked and comes to police attention 2) we kick in a door and happen to find the stuff 3) Stop a person/car on the street and its on their person. Giving serial numbers etc to coppers helps it get identified.

My car got broken into about 18months ago and 990i was taken (just happened to leave car unlocked night). I'm not thinkin I'll ever get called. Only thing that I can hope for is that one day, the little stain that broke in and left his prints behind, gets nabbed again sometime in the future and will get linked back to that one.

I had a whole lot of stuff stolen from me a few years back, cancelled my cards etc. and went on with my life.
About 1.5years later i got a phone call from the police asking me to come and collect my licence/bankcard/creditcard from the police station because they had caught the guys. Was a nice feeling knowing they had been caught but still makes me a bit angry thinking they probably got a slap on the wrist and went on their way.
